Are you interested in finding a familial body of missional colleagues with whom to associate with, fellowship with, and share your own calling and mission from the Lord with? Are you doing the work of ministry and would like to be recognized for it? Are you Evangelical and Orthodox in your understanding of Christian Discipleship and desire to advance your ministry through the recognition of your pastoral call by a body of brothers and sisters with similar ministries? If yes, then the American Presbyterian Church might be a place for you. We believe that the recognition of the title and the office of "pastor" extends beyond the traditional church pastorate to include all who God has called to the ministry and who have received the witness of other faithful brothers and sisters in the faith to that call.
Further, we believe that they are entitled to the "honor" of the benefits of support that ensue from their call. “You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain,” and, “The laborer deserves his wages ” I Tim. 5:18. So, associated together in the APC, members may benefit from Ecclesiastical Endorsement, Retirement Programs, Mutual Exchange of ideas, Pastoral Care, Networking, Benefits of Cooperative Efforts, Group Insurance, and IRS approved clergy benefits. Although compensation is not a primary reason for ordination it does enable ministers to qualify for clergy tax benefits. These benefits include having part of one's salary package designated "housing allowance" and thus exclude that portion of income for purposes of tax reporting. This enables men and women to stay in ministry because their salary packages go farther. Rent, mortgage premiums, mortgage interest payments, and household upkeep, are also not taxed by the IRS for ordained clergy. |
